“Gilded Bloom 2”
One bloom, three different paint behaviors. The white blossom occupies the center of the canvas with its petals built from thick palette-knife impasto — chunky, slightly chiselled at the tips, throwing real shadows under any side-light. Its stamen sits at the heart in a warm golden cluster of small dabbed strokes. Behind the flower the textured gray ground is splashed with vivid gold-toned passages, especially in the upper left and right, where the warm metallic tone seems to bloom outward from the petals.
The drama is held in restraint. The painter has only used three weights — sculptural white, glowing gold-tone, calm dragged gray — and let them do the work. A slim gilded stem curves down from the lower edge of the bloom and dissolves into a deeper gray shadow on the lower-left ground.
